The Founder’s Story
Founded in 2008 by Canadian-born entrepreneur Allan Chester, UK Postbox was created to solve a problem faced by people living and working internationally.
While communication had rapidly moved online through email, messaging and video calls, physical post was still tied to a single location.
Expats, international travellers and business owners often relied on friends or family in the UK to receive and forward their letters and parcels. Important documents, bank statements and deliveries could easily be delayed, misplaced or forgotten.
Postal addresses had become a physical barrier in an increasingly digital world.
Recognising this challenge, Allan set out to build a platform that would remove the limitations of traditional mail by allowing people to manage their post online through a
virtual UK address.
His vision was to create the ultimate online mail management solution — combining
mail scanning, mail forwarding,
parcel forwarding, and fulfilment services into a single digital platform accessible from anywhere in the world.
UK Postbox officially launched in October 2008, introducing the UK’s first fully online mail management platform.
Early adopters included expats needing a reliable UK address, entrepreneurs running businesses remotely, individuals wanting to protect their home address privacy, international students studying abroad, and professionals who regularly travelled overseas for work. What began as a simple idea quickly evolved into a robust platform trusted by customers around the world to manage their mail securely and efficiently.
