This week we have seen potentially fraudulent credit card transactions/topups being made on our site.

We take security very seriously, with regularly monitoring for signs of suspicious activity and taking immediate action when necessary.
From today only 3-D Secure enrolled cards will be accepted via our site.

What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure stands for Three Domain Secure - the payment industry's internet authentication standard which has been developed by the major card schemes. Visa has called their version of the scheme 'Verified by Visa' and MasterCard have called their equivalent initiative 'MasterCard SecureCode'. These are both collectively referred to as 3D Secure. 3D Secure authentication requires the cardholder to register their card to take advantage of this service. This is a one time process involves the cardholder answering several security questions to which only the card issuer and cardholder will know the answer. The cardholder selects a password and agrees on a secret phrase, which will be used by the card issuer during each online transaction.
3D Secure can be thought of as an online version of 'Chip and Pin' technology, whereby the cardholder has a personalised password registered with their card that is entered during the checkout process.

 

If your card is not 3D Secure enrolled there are other payment options - Cheque, PayPal or Bank transfer.

The whole team have been working very hard to update our interface with a host of cool new features. So what have the guys been working on ?

New faster platform -­ This has been completely re-­written to ensure faster performance and a smoothewhats_newr interface that is completely secure.

New mailbox layout -­ user friendly with single click navigation. We wanted to keep the same feel and look but make it easier and quicker for you to manage your mail through the website.

Move multiple mail items at once -­
This allows the selection of multiple items and then you can request to scan, recycle, shred, store or forward in just a couple of mouse clicks

New Internal message center -­ You can now send secure messages to customer services or message the mailroom about a specific piece of mail. We have also added a new archive message facility that makes it easy manage your messages.

Delete item and scan facility -­ The ability to delete items and scans completely from the system. This gives you complete control of your online mailbox and security of your private and sensitive letters

Added tagging -­ What is tagging ?  Tags are a simple and effective way to assign relevant words to mail items. For example you could tag all your bank statements with the tag "bank", then when you search "bank", all mail items will be displayed. You can add and edit your tags whenever you want.

Archive replaced with digital and physical store

What is digital store ? "The FREE cloud solution if you want to store your mail digitally”
If you want to keep just a digital copy of mail, your mail item scans can be stored in your "Digital Store" FREE OF CHARGE for as long as you want and your account is active. The files are stored as PDF files so that you can download them to your local computer or upload to another cloud storage system like Dropbox or Evernote. The actual physical piece of mail is shredded, for your security. This is the solution if you want to keep the digital copy but not the physical mail, and best of all it’s FREE !

What is physical store ? "Cost effective mail and parcel archive solution”
If you want to actually archive physical mail items so that you can retrieve and forward at a later date, you can move your mail into "Physical Store". The mail item is then archived into our storage facility for the length of time required. You can then at any time request for mail items to be retrieved from the archive storage and forwarded onto you. There is a price associated for items in Physical Store, this is dependent on your mail plan. Both parcels and letters can be Physically Stored which can save valuable space in you home or business.....Your mail is safe and secure, just a mouse click away.

Royal Mail to start leaving packages with neighbours

    Royal Mail has signalled an end to the inconvenience of arriving home to find a note saying your parcel with an online order or long-awaited gift must be retrieved from the local sorting office.

    It proposes that its delivery workers will in future be allowed to leave an undeliverable item with a neighbour if the householder is not at home.

    The move will be welcomed by those who dread the time-consuming trip to the sorting office and a queue to collect their packet, but perhaps less so by those on frosty terms with their neighbours. Royal Mail is the only major delivery company which as standard practice does not deliver to a neighbouring address those items that will not fit through the letterbox.

    "Some consumers will like the idea of being able to have mail left with a neighbour. However, worryingly there is no opt-out option and with many people having a neighbour they do not know, or might not trust, this could open the door to problems."

    Allan Chester from UK Postbox said that, Royal Mail is increasing prices, cutting their service level and exposing clients to potential issues dependent on their relationship with their neighbours. I was under the impression that parcel deliveries were to be accepted by the recipient or on behalf of the recipient not just the nextdoor neigbour. Not sure how Internet shops will fair when consumers complain that they have not received their goods and the explanation is “they might have been left with a neighbour”.

VAT Changes from 31st January 2011

Following the UK Government announcement, as a result of the 2010 Budget, the changes to the postal services VAT exemption, affects the services provided by UK Postbox.

Under the changes announced, all the services we provide will be subject to VAT @ the current rate (currently 20.0%) as of the 31st January 2011.

We have been busy implementing the necessary changes to our billing systems to ensure they are all fully VAT compliant in time for the proposed change.

We all like to start the new year with a clean slate, and that is the same for our developers here at UK Postbox.

They have been working very hard on the most requested feature of 2010, the ability to set the default number of scan pages you want when open and scanned. This allows you set the maximum number of pages you want scanned as standard. Thousands of you have asked for this so that you have more control over your mail default account settings which will in turn save you money on scanned pages.

Its very simple to setup, just click HERE or log into your control panel and edit your profile. You can the chose the maximum number of pages you want scanned as default........yes,  it really is that simple.
